Every Fall I look forward to the return of pumpkin spice lattes, scented holiday candles, and PLAID SHIRTS. In pursuit of the PERFECT shirt I have searched high and low to round up my top picks for this season’s star wardrobe staple. Here are six shirts I’ve got my eye on. 1. Madewell makes an excellent modern plaid shirt. This color is called "warm berry" and it is perfection. I love the lightweight material and the muted colors.

2. This second Madewell shirt had to be included in the roundup. I love the color combination and the slim fit of this shirt. I'd consider this one a MUST for my Fall and Winter wardrobe this year.

3. Gap's red and black fitted boyfriend shirt is extremely popular and for good reason. The plaid is a staple color combination that will never go out of style. This shirt is ultra soft and has a tailored slim fit to it that is very flattering.

4. J Crew's boyfriend shirt in bluegrass plaid is a bright, happy shirt. I love the comfy, thick material and the relaxed fit.

5. Target has an impressive array of plaid shirts available this year. It's always nice to have a lot of "options" right at your finger tips. A price tag of $22.99 for this shirt is also very appealing!

6. Old Navy is another store that has a ton of shirts to choose from at a lower price point. This poppy, blue plaid is a "fun" color combination to add to your shirt collection!

Our Favorite CMA Red Carpet Looks

On Wednesday, November 5th, the 48th annual CMA Awards aired on ABC. This event, known as "country music's biggest night" brought in a total of 16.1 million views. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley returned as co-hosts on this popular show. The fashion is always glamorous at these events, and this year did not disappoint. Here are four of our favorite red carpet looks from this eventful night.

1. Host Carrie Underwood looked beautiful as always in a golden ombre Lorena Sarbu gown with intricate crystal embroidery. This high low dress was the perfect way to show off her Jimmy Choo shoes.

Trends With The Editor: Jogger Pants

Jogger pants could possibly be Fall's best trend. Why you ask? Because they are both comfortable AND chic! You can curl up in them to watch your favorite movie, hit the gym, run errands, and then magically transform into a glamorous fashionista with a quick change of shoes and accessories. To show just how versatile this trend is I've rounded up three ways to style these pants. 1. The first look has a casual-cool feel about it. A white tee and converse are dressed up with faux leather joggers, a wool coat and black clutch. Want to know the best part about this look? It's ALL from Forever 21! Chic, comfy, and affordable just how we like it, right ladies?

2. The second look features a pair of J Crew joggers paired with a structured blazer, sneakers, and a sporty bag. By day you can run errands in style and by night you can easily swap out the sneakers for heels, the bag for a clutch, add some sparkly accessories et voila your ready for a night on the town!

 

3. The third look is styled by Mara from M Loves M. It is a dressier way to wear the jogger pant and it is my personal favorite. Anything paired with a moto jacket and heels is a winning outfit in my opinion. Can you believe these pants are from Old Navy?!

It's not a secret that I love lipstick! I am constantly swatching lip colors at beauty counters EVERYWHERE whenever I can. Plum is always a Fall/Winter staple of mine, so this week I made it my mission to find the perfect shades to add to my beauty stash. Here is what I found. Enjoy! 1. Urban Decay Venom  is probably my top pick out of this batch. I love that it is a "brighter" plum lipstick. Darker shades can sometimes make you look tired, but this one has a brightening ability to it.

2. Smashbox Fig has a modern, sleek feeling. It is described as a red-grape color. It's not too light and not too dark--it's just right.

3. Laura Geller Cabernet Crush is a creamy plum with pink undertones. It's a gorgeous color!

• Go STRAIGHT to the sales rack when you get to a store. Put your "horse blinders" on and don't even look at all the cute stuff you can't afford, or else nothing in the sales rack will satisfy you.

Our Top Five Wedding Makeup Tips

Do you know how important having a makeup artist is on your big day? Tricks like contouring and highlighting, making your makeup weatherproof, and being able to recreate current makeup trends are just some of the many reasons going with a pro is so important. However, some brides just can't work it into their budget so here are some tips for those who need to do it themselves: 1. Exfoliate the night before! Using a gentle scrub while in the shower will help to slough off dead skin cells leaving skin smooth, perfect for applying makeup.

2. Deep cleanse and moisturize skin prior to applying your makeup! This is key when prepping the skin.

3. Use a primer! If you want a flawless, poreless look, don't skip this step. It will give your makeup staying power and diffuse imperfections. We love the primer from Glo Minerals, but if you are a Sephora/Ulta girl Benefit's primer and Smashbox's Photo Finish primers are some of our fav's! Smashbox even has a color correcting primer as well as one for oily skin. If you are on a budget Loreal's Pore a Vanisher is a great dupe for Benefit's at a much more reasonable price.

4. Use an eye primer! Urban Decay's Primer Potion is excellent. Just get it, you will see! What you won't see are smudges, creases, oily lids or your eyeshadow disappear.

5. Practice before the big day.

As a professional makeup artist I strongly encourage my brides to do a run through prior to the wedding. This way the look can be perfected and there is no stress the day of. I love knowing ahead of time exactly what we are doing and what products I'm using. So practice on yourself so you KNOW your makeup will be perfect on the big day.

For Kaley Brie Fuson, our Bride in the images above, I used Glo minerals primers and Satin II Foundation. I used the Golden under eye concealer to highlight and under the eyes and the Perfecting finishing powder to set. I used Sunlight bronzer to contour and Hibiscus (a soft pink) at her cheeks. Since she wanted to look natural I used a few individual lashes and carefully placed them rather than using a whole strip of lashes.

Miss America 2015 Best Dresses

Miss America 2015 was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sunday, September 14, 2014. The winner was Miss New York, Kira Kazantsev, making it the third year in a row that a Miss New York won the Miss America crown. Take a look at two of our favorite dresses from the evening. The new Miss America winner just happened to be wearing one of our favorite dresses. She wore an elegant white gown with a high top and an open back.

Host Lara Spencer, of Good Morning America, was another favorite of ours. She wore a lovely dress with a solid black top and a white bottom with floral print.

Join Us at The Porch Light's Shine A Light Weekend

Among the three anti-human trafficking groups that Top Buttons initiative Sozo United for Freedom has partnered with, we'd like to take the opportunity to spotlight The Porch Light's own efforts to end human trafficking. The Porch Light is Lakeland, Florida’s first safe house for sex trafficked underage girls. Along with providing housing, girls are provided with education, medical care, counseling, and spiritual discipleship.  On top of that, the organization is continually taking the time to educate the public on prevention and working to change laws surrounding this issue.

Sozo United for Freedom wants to invite everyone in the Lakeland, Florida area to join us in shining a light on human trafficking during Porch Light’s Shine a Light fundraiser weekend. If you desire to do your part to help end human trafficking we ask you to join the Top Buttons team on the weekend of the 24th.

Wardrobe Makeover Event 2014 Video, Pictures, and Special Thank You

http://youtu.be/B4YK4WzwOjQOn Saturday Sept 20th, Top Buttons held a wardrobe makeover event for some very deserving teens in need from the Central Florida area. The teens that participated in the event were nominated by well-known civic and religious organizations such as PACE Center for Girls, Girls Inc, and The Dream Center. We were truly overwhelmed by response of the girls who participated in the event. When they arrived some were nervous and some excited, but all left with a huge smile that radiated with a newfound or renewed sense of self-confidence.

Providing wardrobe and beauty makeovers for 32 girls was a privilege for all of us on the Top Buttons team.  Our hope was that each girl would leave with much more than things, we wanted them to leave with an experience which would inspire them for a lifetime.

Each girl who participated received a Top Buttons T-shirt (THANKS TO ALL WHO PURCHASED THEIR OWN TOP BUTTONS T-SHIRT PRIOR TO THE EVENT) and quality used clothing donated from the local community!

As a part of this experience, we also spent a portion of time sharing about the mission of TB,  the importance of "considering the message we send with our clothing choices," and some important tips on how to avoid being trafficked right here in the US.

Each girl also received: (We have to use exclamation points, because each gift was truly a HUGE DEAL!!!)

• A swag bag designed and donated by Madden Branded Goods with gifts from the community inside!
• Adorable black tights and lovely studded earrings from Whimsy Boutique!
• A large bag of makeup and hair products from Cosmo Prof!
• Lip gloss and cute pens wrapped in fun socks from Eliska Poirier!
• Style boards to help them understand their style personality from Ahndea May!
• Some of the participants who had a special clothing need received gift certificates from Plato’s Closet!
• Yummy refreshments from Sweet Magnolia Tea Room!
• A free hair cut, style, and makeup from Supercuts and Salon Salvatore, and other exceptional makeup artists, named below!
• A professional photo shoot by the photographer extraordinaire, Jen Duarte!

Who donated clothing!

We had clothing, which was mailed to us from outside of our local community too. The racks were full of beautiful pieces for our participants to choose from. The leftover clothing was placed in storage for our next Wardrobe Makeover Event to be held in the Spring of 2015 and some has been donated to local women's organizations.
